Zootopia 3
I got an idea stuck in my head that I couldn’t shake, and I couldn’t transfer to the series I write. I also didn’t want to write what is ostensibly a Wildehopps fanfiction. So I went bigger, developed an entire story, and wrote an whole damn novel. In three months. And I mean the whole thing: it’s a three-act structure, all the characters are involved (plus a few some new ones), there’s mid-credits and after-credits scenes, a crossover tease with another Disney franchise, and I even wrote a song. Because I do things the hard way.
Again, I hate to call this fanfiction, since I did tons of research, followed everything that came before, and created what I feel could legitimately pass for the third movie. And I have further ideas – not just for sequels, but for marketing, and a paradigm shift for all future animated movies to follow. So, if anyone has contacts at Disney, hook me up. It’s worth a gander.
This was the first for many things for me: first actual novel; first three-act structure, first fanfiction, first romance. Yes, this is Disney romance the likes of which we haven’t seen in years. An action-romance, to be clear. And because it’s Disney-esque, there’s no smut, so keep it in your pants. It is, however, darker in tone than your typical animated feature, and a little violent. But it’s to serve the story and illustrate how dire things become. There’s a 0.0001% chance that this actually sees the light of day and Disney sees fit to hire me on as…I don’t know, a consultant, maybe? But if that happens there might have to be some alterations to the story. So enjoy this while you can!
Here’s the plot synopsis:
Nick and Judy are the shining stars of the Zootopia Police Department. From catching criminals to finding missing animals to uncovering conspiracies, the fox and bunny duo have done it all - except the one thing they both long for: be together romantically.
This can never happen, of course. Not only would it go against societal constructs, but against nature itself. So they pine away in secret, knowing they can never cross that line.
But when a new avian threat emerges from the shadows, threatening not just them, but every single animal in the city, they'll be forced to do things they never dreamed of.
Soon, with nowhere they can run to and no one they can trust, it becomes apparent that this new enemy, always one step ahead, might be impossible to overcome. They'll have to dig deep to survive, but will they dig deep enough to unearth their true feelings for each other? Or will they bury them deeper, believing they're not meant to be.
Because in Zootopia, where anyone can be anything, and bunny and a fox can not be in love.
